HOLA MEXICO

Mexico was never on my “Must Go To” list. But to actually go and see what it was about was definitely an experience that I am grateful for. I wouldn’t say I wouldn’t go again, but it surely isn’t on my “I’ll Go Back Again” list either.

Mexico was never on my “Must Go To” list. But to actually go and see what it was about was definitely an experience that I am grateful for. I wouldn’t say I wouldn’t go again, but it surely isn’t on my “I’ll Go Back Again” list either.

This had to be the most touristy trip I’ve ever taken, and one thing that I’m never too excited about when traveling is living a touristy lifestyle. I love experiencing RAW cultures, seeing natives in their daily lives doing what they regularly do, and just seeing a new perspective of things overall.

I stayed in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico at The Reef Coco Beach Hotel. Now lets pause for a second and give a quick shoutout to Groupon real quick. Although Groupon wasn’t technically involved in my reservations, it surely had an influence in my decision based on the reviews; all inclusive premium package, at a GREAT price!

Note: For majority of my time spent in Mexico, I ate religiously at the hotel. The only time I ate food outside of the hotel was on our last night there, and of course I had to get me some nachos and some fish tacos! YUM YUM YUM!!

Things That I Did:

  • Went to XPLOR: Extremely fun! Just be aware that you’ll be doing a lot of zip-lining, water activities, and walking through caves.
  • Visited the Mayan Ruins of Tulum: A breathtaking experience. We arrived a few minutes before the 5:30 so that we could climb to the top of the ruins to see the sunset. Note: You have to climb back down when your ready to go. This isn’t for the weakest of hearts to do, but there is no other way.
  • Visited Tulum: Boat Tour/Excursion
  • Snorkeling
  • Walk 5th Avenue: You’ll find everything, and everyone here; day and night. Check out the clubs after 11pm as well.

Tips:

  • Rent a car: Its way much easier to get around on your time and schedule. Rentals are dirt cheap, and driving the streets of Mexico isn’t bad at all! Advice: Do not rent with Payless. They are indeed the cheapest out of all of the options but they will give you a car that is already in bad condition and blame it on you, which then costs you!
  • Use the maps on your smartphone to get around easily.
  • I spent 4 nights in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and spent less than $300US.
